On September 22, 2011, the newly acquired Trolley was introduced to the community of Presque Isle at the Presque Isle Historical Society Fire Station. Almost 30 people attended the a ribbon-cutting ceremony to introduce "Molly" to the community. They were treated to a tour to the former Gouldville School where pre-school children were able to view her as she passed by.
This “Molly” is a 1985 model with a gas-driven Chevrolet 454 engine. It has 13 bench seats and open seating at the rear to hold 29 passengers plus a driver and tour guide. The body is aluminum, contains etched windows, extensive wood paneling and brass rails.
Molly serves our mission by helping us to promote local history and will be used as part of the Presque Isle Historical Society’s regular Programming. With Molly, the Presque Isle Historical Society will be able to offer:
- Narrated city-wide historic bus tours that include such historic sites as the Double Eagle II monument, the James School, Mantle Lake, the Northern Maine Sanatorium, Maysville Grange, the Air Base Museum, the MicMac Museum, the Presque Isle Army Air Base, and more.
- A Museum Crawl: an all-day trip to include a box lunch to a different area of the County each month during the summer designed to showcase the museums in that portion of the County. Area trips would include Patten/Oakfield; Houlton/Monticello; the Valley; Caribou/Fort Fairfield; Ashland/Mapleton/Washburn; and Presque Isle.
- Fall foliage tours.
- As part of the transportation for the upcoming Summer History Camp Program for children ages 8 to 12.
- Local guide service to visiting tour group companies.
- Private Charters.
