The Historical Society has been working for almost three years
now to bring its "Historic Geo-Caching Tour" to fruition. This tour will
provide a wholesome, family activity for tourists and residents alike
which combines today's technology with a fun, historical educational
activity. Soon interested participants will be able to hike, bike, or
drive to historic locations around our area using our Geo-Caching
Brochure.
The Historical Society will have bicycles for rent (courtesy of the $1,500 grant received in January from the Presque Isle Rotary), hand-held GPS devices (from a Maine Community Foundation grant), and helmets (a donation from the Kiwanis). The Geo-Caching brochure will feature approximately twenty (20) locations in and around Presque Isle by physical address as well as GPS coordinates.
If you are interested in serving on the Historic Geo-Caching Committee to help work out the final details necessary to launch this program, please contact us at: pihistoricalsociety@hotmail.com, or leave a voice mail at (207) 762-1151.
