HISTORICAL PAVILION

Historical Pavilion won the award for the "Best Artidact" at this year's Historical Pavilion held recently as part of the Northern Maine Fair. With over thirty exhibits this year, competition was fierce for the five coveted awards. The event, held August 3 - 5, included displayd from many area museums, historical societies, businesses and living history demonstrators.

The Presque Isle Historical Society's booth offered an hisorical insight into the impact of the Civil War on Presque Isle. With almost 25% of our population at the time serving in the Civil War, the impact was great indeed. Featured in the exhibit were the names of local men who served and information on the regiments for which they served, an authentic Civil War sword for which we won the award, an authentic Civil War promotion certificate, live Civil War music performed by Dan Ladner and his grandson, Adam Scott. and period costumes. As part of our Civil War celebration, Jeff Roberts provided his re-enctment encampment for which he won "Best Overall Exhibit".
