SESQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION (2009)
Presque Isle was first incorporated as a town on April 4, 1859. Therefore, Presque Isle will be celebrating its 150th , or sesquicentennial, birthday in the year 2009. The Presque Isle Historical Society plans on playing a key role in the festivities. It is our goal to have the restoration of the Historic Fire Station completed in time for this year-long celebration. The Historical Society will be having special guest lectures every month as well as at least one special benefit event every month.

See Sesquicentennial page for lecture series and event details.
The Crown of Maine Quilter's Guild makes a Sesquicentennial Quilt.

HISTORICAL TIME CAPSULE

Wikipedia defines a time capsule as “a historic cache of goods and/or information usually intended as a method of communication with people in the future.”

Be a part of history with your very own time capsule. In this very special year in Presque Isle's history, make a little of your own. For only $5.00, place documents of your choice (and within the guidelines established by our Time Capsule Form) in an envelope.

In ten years, the Historical Society will deliver the documents to the recipient you designate. A completed Time Capsule Form is required. Deadline: 09/30/09
